Covid-19; please be aware that we are currently not able to offer appointments due to the unprecedented times we are all facing. Unless your treatment is urgent and you feel it is worsening you are not advised to visit a clinic. If you do visit a clinic please ensure they have implemented correct procedures to limit the spread of the coronovirus.
Phone/video assessments are available and they’re still free and will be until July – go to the telehealth page for more information.
Stay safe, wash your hands.
What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is the application of many techniques, depending on the skill of the therapist to help relieve pain, recover from injury and improve function and ability. It is a health profession that has been proven to be effective in helping people recover from:
- Back pain
- Shoulder problems
- Anxiety and depression
- Headaches, neck pain and whiplash
- Sporting injuries
- Long term chronic pain
- Post partum issues
- And many more
What happens when you visit a Physio?
We ask you about your ongoing issues then carry out some assessments including functional testing and specific musculoskeletal and neurological testing. Then treatment can be simple massage or soft tissue mobilisations (hurts a little bit) or it can be chiropractic techniques or even acupuncture.
The most important thing is that you develop an understanding of your pain and what things you can do to manage this in the short and long term.
We give you exercises and see how you get on. If you want more treatment then great. If you can self manage then even better. We are always available to discuss your needs and recommend the best course of action.
How many sessions do I need?
There is no set idea here. Each session is taken in turn and no attempt will be made to get you to sign up to a long term “course” of treatment.
To progress your rehabilitation you will be advised whether to move onto another practitioner, therapist or coach. This is especially important if you have specific fitness goals and are motivated to develop your skill and improve your performance.
Danny has elected not to do insurance work here at dbphysiobristol except where your policy just needs the issuing of a receipt so you can reclaim the cost of assessment/treatment. This is due to the administrative burden required to manage insurance requirements. Danny does have the necessary support in place where he works in Bradley Stoke; Willow Brook Clinic.
