What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is the application of many techniques, depending on the skill of the therapist to help relieve pain, recover from injury and improve function and ability. It is a health profession that has been proven to be effective in helping people recover from:

  • Back pain
  • Shoulder problems
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Headaches, neck pain and whiplash
  • Sporting injuries
  • Long term chronic pain
  • Post partum issues
  • And many more

What happens when you visit a Physio?

We ask you about your ongoing issues then carry out some assessments including functional testing and specific musculoskeletal and neurological testing. Then treatment can be simple massage or soft tissue mobilisations (hurts a little bit) or it can be chiropractic techniques or even acupuncture. 

The most important thing is that you develop an understanding of your pain and what things you can do to manage this in the short and long term. 

How many sessions do I need?

There is no set idea here. Each session is taken in turn and no attempt will be made to get you to sign up to a long term “course” of treatment. 

What then?

We give you exercises and see how you get on. If you want more treatment then great. If you can self manage then even better. We are always available to discuss your needs and recommend the best course of action.
